Human activities leading to accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere and following climate change is one of the most serious challenges that humanity is facing today. The use of renewable energies is part of the solution to hinder climate change, but its introduction proceeds too slowly to cover the global energy needs for the next years. As a result, societies are still depending on fossil fuels to cover their energy needs. For a brighter future, the European Commission invests strongly in research directed to finding new and better solutions to capture carbon dioxide before it is even emitted into the atmosphere.
